JOINT COMMISSION UPDATE, FEB ’21

Since our last update, BHG treatment centers located in Dyersburg, TN, Overland Park, KS, Springfield, MO (North), Paducah, KY, Corbin, KY, and Lexington, KY, have all been awarded three-year accreditation certificates by the Joint Commission.

Congratulations to these teams on their hard work and accomplishment!

Also, BHG centers in Nashville, TN, Colorado Springs, CO, and Centennial, CO, have been surveyed and are in the process of submitting Evidence of Standards Compliance.

Our location in Grand Bay, AL, with leader Jaime Matthews, will have an initial (first-time) Joint Commission survey beginning February 25. Survey coordinating activities have begun.

Important Update:
Effective January 1, 2021, The Joint Commission has deleted IC.02.04.01, EP 5:

In August 2020, the Department of Health and Human Services released the Healthy People 2030 goals. The goal of reaching a 90 percent influenza vaccination rate has been eliminated as a Healthy People 2030 goal and in keeping with this decision, The Joint Commission has chosen to eliminate IC.02.04.01, EP 5. The Joint Commission would like to stress that organizations should continue to strive to increase compliance with influenza vaccinations and take action to improve vaccination rates.

“However, moving forward The Joint Commission will not score noncompliance if the organization has not reached 90 percent but will instead review that organizations have a goal to improve influenza vaccination rates and have leadership support and processes in place to support achievement of these goals.”
