Here We Grow Again, Sept ’21

Phoenix Health Center in Hagerstown, MD Joins BHG

These are exciting times. Today, September 28, BHG grows by two: adding a new OTP and a new OBOT to our footprint. These two facilities in Hagerstown, Maryland known as Phoenix Health Center officially become BHT Maryland Treatment Center and BHG Medical Services–Maryland. This adds another state to our national story, more than 24 team members to our BHG family, and some 900 patients to our census. Teammates are excited to be affiliated with BHG and look forward to partnering with sister clinics in Washington, DC, and Glen Allen, VA.

As Program Director for 11 years at the Hagerstown center, Kathy Bishop will continue to lead the clinic. Kathy comes to BHG with over 20 years of leadership experience in the behavioral health field. Prior to Phoenix Health Center, she served as the Chief Operations Officer of a multi-location addiction and pain management practice.

Her compassion, love and respect for all people, combined with her knowledge of MAT and SUD, are visible in the daily operations of BHG Maryland Treatment Center and interactions with community members, families, patients and staff.

Kathy brings a patient-centered accountability approach and patient education structure to MAT. She demonstrates knowledge and strength in complex issue resolution, harm and risk reduction, and thinks outside the box.

She is certified in criminal justice, medical assisting and medical office management, and is pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration. She’s also in phase two of applying for her certification as a Fraud Investigator.

Kathy has completed MAT education modules including Harvard X: The Opioid Crisis in America certificate program. She’s a member of the Washington County Overdose Fatality Review Team. She is involved with local harm reduction efforts, MAT education and the local SENS Committee.

Please welcome Kathy and the entire team at the new BHG Maryland Treatment Center!
