While reading last month’s newsletter, something Marlin Martin said struck me. He said “I’m a big believer that if you’re a strong enough person to overcome addiction, you can overcome anything. When that happens, families and communities are transformed.” That strength Marlin is talking about is something I believe already lives in all of us but the challenges of life can either stoke or tamp down the fire needed for the fight.
Every one of you working for BHG exhibits that strength. It transcends how you serve patients, and for many of them, how they transform from a life of addiction to a life renewed that positively impacts their communities.
As you read this month’s newsletter, take that thought in. All the ways we, as a company, are lending our strength to the fight of others so that future generations stand a chance at experiencing a healthy and full life. It’s a timely spirit to embrace as we honor Black History Month and those pioneers who brought to light the struggles of addiction for African Americans and those who are continuing their legacy today.
Thank you for being a part of our collective strength and for all that you do every day to chip away at the systemic barriers to quality healthcare for ALL people.
Your dedicated CEO,
Jay Higham
